A common misconception in dominant narratives of women or couples with fertility problems is that they are not normal or worthwhile; they are a let-down to themselves and their family. This paper addresses two frameworks relevant to working with people with fertility problems: the role of the health professional in medical decision-making and non-pathologising views on 'grief' responses, and then outlines a narrative approach to assist people with fertility problems to re-author a fertile lifestyle.
